I’ve worked in the Pharmaceutical Industry for over 20 years, working for companies such as GlaxoSmithKline and Huntingdon Life Sciences.
I have a passion for supporting drug discovery and development through the method development and validation of robust bioanalytical assays for small molecules, their metabolites and biomarkers, troubleshooting and solving complex bioanalytical assays and training and mentoring junior scientists. I can work independently and as part of a matrix team.
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and Physics from The University of the West Indies, Mona
A Doctor of Philosophy - PhD, Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences from The University of Strathclyde.
The title of my thesis was “Can Parallel Multi-Compartment In-Vitro Drug Binding Measurements Improve the Prediction of In-Vivo PK Measurements”. The learnings from this enable me to design and set up plasma-protein binding capability for clients using Equilibrium Dialysis and to train in-house teams to conduct this themselves.
I started as an analyst doing sample analysis supporting preclinical discovery studies and then moved to developing, validating and supporting more complex bioanalytical assays using various matrices in highly regulated environments.
Supporting both discovery and development studies over the years has enhanced my reputation as an expert bioanalytical scientist, who is skilled at overcoming complex assays and challenges and sharing knowledge with junior members of the team. I am also skilled in Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC MS/MS) and in various extraction techniques.
I really enjoy getting to know new organisations and teams and supporting the advancement of drug discovery and development.

"Wayne is a great bioanalytical scientist and method developer, which I know from working with him for almost 2 decades at GSK. I was also his industrial PhD supervisor, and was really pleased to see his hard work pay off by achieving his Doctorate into the determination of unbound drug concentrations with techniques such as equilibrium dialysis and mass spectrometry."

"Wayne possesses exceptional expertise in regulated bioanalysis, with particular strengths in LCMS and phase I clinical study support. He is also proficient with LIMS systems such as Watson and has a thorough understanding of GLP/GCP regulations. His extensive knowledge and experience made him a valuable mentor to other team members. He is highly respected and considered a key reference point within the team. Considering these qualities and his achievement in earning his PhD in Bioanalysis, I believe Wayne would be an excellent addition to any scientific team."
